Twin Clouds, St Donat de Montcalm, Quebec, Canada

One morning in mid-December, I was at my cottage on Lake Ouareau, two hours north of Montreal.

Through the window, I spotted a beautiful and almost perfect reflection across the lake. It struck me as unusual and unique, so I got dressed and went down to the lake shore armed with my two cameras, one with a long focal lens and the second with a wide-angle lens.

Normally, at this time of year, the lake is frozen, but this was an exception. The difference in temperature between the water and the colder morning air produced à lovely patch of fog that I spotted with my long-focal lens. I then framed the image with the wide-angle lens to capture this magic moment.

The air was still, and the lower cloud was a mirror of the upper one. Little post-production work was necessary to bring out the colours. Once again, I was very happy to have my gear on hand to capture this beautiful moment.
