On a windy February afternoon, it was a struggle to protect the camera on its tripod as the wind gusted from the southwest. Having climbed up to the clifftop, it seemed prudent to stay in that area, shooting towards the east rather than exploring the southwest side.
The clouds were heavy at the beginning of the session, and the sun started to sink in the sky behind me over my right shoulder. I had been to Vik Beach the day before and photographed the basalt stacks in the ocean from the other side of the headland to the east on a rainy and moody morning.
Another wonderful opportunity was seeing them across the bay with crashing waves and ever-changing light as the clouds receded. This photograph was taken early in the session before the clouds rolled back to allow the sun’s rays to bathe the bay.
