In September 2017, I hiked 450 km of the Chemin de St-Jacques-de-Compostelle in France. For such an endeavor, minimizing luggage weight was crucial. I streamlined my photography equipment to include one camera, two lenses, and several memory cards. I carried a 24-200 mm f/4 lens and a 50 mm f/1.4 lens.

One of the reasons I love my Olympus gear is its compactness. During my hike, the beauty of a fog-enshrouded valley captured my attention. I composed and framed the image handheld using a focal length equivalent to 34 mm. I applied the rule of thirds, positioning the row of trees in the lower third of the frame and the massive clouds in the upper third. To achieve proper exposure (exposing to the right), I overexposed the scene by two-thirds of a stop.

Hiking the renowned Chemin de St-Jacques-de-Compostelle provides daily opportunities to capture marvelous photos and meet people from all around the world.
