On July 29, 2025, I decided to revisit the beautiful Swaggin River, located near the village of St-Come, about an hour and a half north of Montreal, Quebec.
Before I left, I checked the weather forecast, which predicted good conditions for my trip. I also ensured that my gear was ready, including my water boots.
As I walked along the hiking trail, I was delighted to hear the distant sound of flowing water, indicating that the water level would be ideal for capturing some photos. I put on my water boots to carefully enter the river.
Once I reached the river, I set up my tripod, camera, and cable release. I composed and framed the shot using a 16mm focal length. With an aperture set to f/11, I achieved a shutter speed of 0.3 seconds, which allowed me to capture nice lines and details in the flowing water.
Before pressing the shutter, I adjusted the polarizing filter on my lens to reduce glare and reflections on the water, revealing the beautifully colored rocks on the riverbed. I took a moment to appreciate the scene—a stunning waterfall in the distance, flowing into the narrow river at my feet, bordered by lush greenery. The vantage point was excellent, and I was pleased with my composition.
Finally, I triggered the shutter, feeling proud of my preparations. I was glad that I had packed my water boots in my camera bag and took my time to set up before capturing the image.
