Karakoram is located in Pakistan but extends into India, China, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. It is the home of the second-highest peak on Earth, K2, which has a towering height of 8,611 meters (28,251 feet). Karakoram, in Turkic, means black gravel.

The immensity of this mountain really cannot be appreciated unless you are looking at it from a distance. It is just amazing to see layers of mountains receding into the far distance. The photo was taken on our trip to Ladakh and Kashmir. The immensity of the mountain truly humbles you
