I visited Yoho National Park in British Columbia on the last day of a father-son trip to the Canadian Rockies. The itinerary for each day was largely the same: wake up, pack a day bag, hike, take in the beautiful mountain scenery, return to the hotel, eat a delicious dinner, sleep, and repeat.
It was an amazing trip, and Yoho was the perfect capstone. An out-and-back on the Yoho Valley Trail was our chosen route for the day, and we soaked in the forest and mountain views as we gently climbed alongside the river of the same name.
Laughing Falls made for a great lunch spot, giving me one final opportunity to put my newly purchased ND filter to work. The rays of light streaking through the evergreens, combined with the patches of light downstream of the falls, immediately grabbed my attention, and I set a long exposure to capture the smooth texture of the flowing water.
I knew in the post that it would be a good candidate for monochrome to accentuate the scene’s contrast, and the end result came out even better than I had hoped!
