This is a favored perch of mine that I found long ago while hiking between two established trails in Canyonlands. One can walk for 5 miles on only sandstone on this long arm. My spot is at its northern fingertips. Moab and Arches are beyond the midpoint of the horizon.

I often sit on the top of the sandstone structure when finishing a day hike or multi-day excursion. I was doing that on this day and watched as the clouds began to mimic the structure of the rock. Time to photograph was the only available thought. Late afternoon light helped immensely.

Of all the parks I’ve visited, this is my favorite, and it’s why I moved to Moab long ago. This is the scene I’d like to be looking at when it’s time to leave this world.
