I ventured to many areas in one day and ended the day by making my last run to Tahquamenon Falls.
As I parked my car, I made haste to the waterfalls, wondering where it was, and soon after, I heard it from a distance. Following the much-needed directional signs, I got closer to the sounds, and once I arrived, I was just floored by the sunset creating this beautiful framing of the foreground leaves that were highlighted. I decided to use my Lee big stopper to let the light do its thing as well as create a smooth, silky effect for the waterfall in the distance. I had to just take in this moment to know that I arrived at a place that I’ve always wanted to visit and capture in my own way.
Normally, when I plan a road trip, I Google images to get an idea of the layout before hitting the road. Preparation is key. This road trip was not only about getting out and exploring new places, but it was also for me to realign myself and to give myself a much-needed break from the daily grind. The vast experiences, from driving new roads to seeing how different people and cultures are, are just amazing. Some days, I think about the people that I’ve met along my journey and hope that they are well. Those people you come in contact with appeared in your life at that time for a reason.
This scene felt like God set the stage for me to capture this moment because it was just such an experience for me, and I’m grateful for this moment. I personally have not yet seen an image captured here like the one I captured. It’s definitely a unique version of this iconic landscape.
This is one of those moments when I look back at the image and relive the moment and feelings that I get when I look at this stunning scenery. I can personally say that after this experience, I left here a different person. There’s so much beauty all around us, and it’s our responsibility to stop and take in the moment.
