Storm Light at Elgol, Isle of Skye, Scotland

This was probably the best weather day I’ve ever experienced at Elgol on the Isle of Skye. A storm named ‘Storm Dennis’ had passed through for several hours, bringing fog, clouds, strong winds, squalls, and just about everything except snow.

Later in the day, I witnessed the very tail end of the storm, with incredible light breaking through the still aggressive dark clouds, while the waves crashed powerfully against the shore. The snow-capped Cuillin Mountains in the distance had been completely hidden just an hour earlier, but they kept appearing and disappearing as the light changed.

This is a well-known composition, and I make no apologies for choosing it. When the light is this good, it’s the perfect spot along the coast to capture the beauty of the area and showcase its remarkable scenery.
