Stor Sandness Beach, Lofoten Islands, Norway

Visiting the Lofoten Islands in February results in short days and long nights, and when the nights are clear of any clouds, there is a good chance of seeing some spectacular Auroras.

In February, after the sun rises, it does not rise very high in the sky, and therefore, the quality of the light stays fairly constant all day. I spent the morning shooting the dawn at this location and returned that night, where I was lucky enough to capture this image.

The sea was fairly calm, and using a shutter speed of 13 seconds helped me slow down the incoming waves sufficiently to get the colours in the sky reflected in the water.
