I had been watching the forecast, hoping for calm air and a touch of mist. Before sunrise, I drove past Hadsund to the south side of the fjord, near the old ferry inn, where new wooden piers lined the water.

As the sun rose, the fog over Mariager Fjord began to lift, slowly enough that the light was both clear and hazy at the same time. For a brief moment, everything settled: the boat barely moved, the water mirrored the sky, and the shore softened into pastel bands.

I photographed the scene facing Mariager on a mild March morning, trying to keep the composition as simple as the moment felt. For me, this image captures the quiet that follows a period of waiting—the rewarding experience when the weather, water, and patience come together harmoniously.
