Flash floods in the desert can be surprising and very dangerous if you are caught at the wrong time and in the wrong place. But on the other hand, they create, for a short time only, some extraordinary views. This photo was taken at a beautiful sunrise two days after the flood, when the winter pools were still full of fresh water. The rising sun, combined with the clouds, created a rare, beautiful light for this area of the desert. I love photographing in the desert in any season, but even more so in the winter.
