Popina Laka is a waterfall located in Northern Pirin at an altitude of 1230 meters above sea level. The waterfall is located 69 kilometres from the town of Sandanski along the Bashliytsa River, about a hundred meters above its confluence with the Sarchaliytsa River, which together form the beginning of the Sandanska Bistritsa River.

It is 15 meters high (according to other sources, 12), and is characterised by high water throughout the year. On October 11, 1965, it was declared a natural landmark, “Sandanska Bistritsa River Waterfall”. The nearest settlement to the waterfall is the village of Lilyanovo, and it takes 5-6 minutes to reach the Yane Sandanski hut.

The waterfall consists of two falls, after which the water calms down briefly, just before falling from the height. The water then forms a small pond and descends over the second large fall, which is half the height of the first. From this point, there is a small and slippery path that leads to the foot of the second jump, from where one can observe the entire waterfall and feel its spray.
