The image was taken during a hiking trip in the spring of 2023. Back then, my girlfriend and I decided to explore Muddus National Park, a place we’d heard a lot about but had never had the chance to visit.
Being spring and all, the weather in northern Sweden was rainy and cold, but on the third night out, the sky cleared and gifted us with a beautiful and crispy dome above our heads. We waited a couple of hours until the sunset faded, and there they were: the first glimpse of that season’s Aurora.
For the image, I used a Canon R5 and a Sigma Art 24mm, and I filmed for 15 seconds to capture the Northern Lights reflecting over Muddusjaure Lake.
