From Oslo, I took the train and then the ferry to Balestrand, a small, authentic Norwegian village that has been spared from mass tourism and large cruise ships. Located at the confluence of the Sognefjord, Norway’s longest fjord, and the Fjaerland Fjord, it is an excellent starting point for exploring and hiking in the majestic natural surroundings.

The weather in August was rainy, with overcast skies and lots of fog. With low temperatures, the peaks remained snow-capped, offering me beautiful contrasts.

It’s a particularly peaceful and inspiring place where it is nice to stay for a few days.
