This shot captures the iconic Haystack Rock located in Cannon Beach on the Oregon coast, USA. Typically, it is quite challenging to photograph the rock without including people in the frame.
However, on this particular Sunday morning, the combination of early hour, dense fog, and light drizzle resulted in an empty beach. This provided a unique opportunity to compose the shot unobstructed.
I selected a photo spot featuring water pools that naturally formed leading lines. Like many landscape photographers, I patiently waited for the fog to envelop the rock, giving the scene a mysterious atmosphere in this usually popular area.
