My previous two visits to Yellowstone National Park were over 40 years ago. This week-long trip included a few days in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. However, it was time to move on. On our final morning, I spotted a beautiful sunrise with fog and mist over the lake, so I pulled over to take a picture. We were on our way to a photography workshop in Moab National Park, Utah, to learn about astrophotography, which was at least a 10-hour drive. My wife was a bit annoyed and wanted me to keep moving because of the long day ahead, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to capture the fog and mist rising off the water.

When we returned home to Florida, I showed my wife all the pictures from the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, and Moab National Parks. There was only one picture she wanted to have printed and hung on our wall. You guessed it: the one she initially wanted me to skip. It still hangs in a prominent place in our home, reminding me that a beautiful scene is always worth a few minutes of your time.
