This morning, I had been photographing at Rydal because the forecast predicted decent fog conditions. I captured some good pictures there, and afterwards, I decided to venture further into the Langdales to see what else I could find before the fog dissipated. As I was passing Elterwater, I noticed a high-level section of woodland that still had a significant amount of fog, so I chose to stop and explore it.
The atmosphere in the woods was already fantastic, but when the sun broke over the mountain tops and started filtering through the trees, the scene truly came alive. This beautiful moment lasted about ten minutes, during which I focused on capturing the essence of the landscape. For a single morning’s work, it was incredibly memorable! It’s rare to stumble upon such an unplanned scene, and it definitely adds to the sense of reward when it happens. If I hadn’t turned left off the main road for no particular reason, I would never have witnessed such a breathtaking sight.
