We have very few deserts in Europe; however, Spain has two: one in the north and one in the south, made famous by cinema and television.

The Bardenas Reales is a semi-desert area covering 39,200 hectares (392 km²) in southeastern Navarre (north of Spain), between Tudela and Carcastillo. It encompasses the Bardena Blanca, a desert landscape; the Bardena Negra, covered in xerophytic forest; and El Plano, a steppe-like agricultural region.

This nature reserve boasts unique vegetation, which has earned it UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve status. Erosion has sculpted impressive rock formations, the most emblematic of which are Castil de Tierra and the Rallón and Piskerra massifs, composed of badlands. This distinctive landscape has made it a popular filming location for numerous movies and television series, including scenes from the television series Game of Thrones.
