An old lone tree in Co. Mayo amidst some lovely sunset light following some heavy showers. Capturing reflections of this tree is really only possible after some rain, as the foreground area is normally dry without lake water reaching it. The tree sits on a small piece of land jutting out on the banks of a lake, which makes this composition challenging.
Part of the lake is behind the tree and was a distraction in my composition. I had to position the camera just centimetres above the water, with the tripod almost submerged, to get low enough to conceal the lake distraction. I felt this perspective best lined up with the distant mountains, creating a perfect valley, and the colourful sunset completed the composition.
