I visited the lower falls at the Kaaterskill Falls area. There is a small parking area that leads to this site, but the walk is a short and somewhat unsafe one. The road winding through the mountain is often traveled by many people eager for a glimpse of the falls.
Although the lower falls may not have the dramatic appeal of the upper falls, which is one of New York State’s tallest, it was still captivating, especially during the autumn. This waterfall is mentioned in the works of the important American writer James Fenimore Cooper, and I was determined to navigate the narrow road to photograph it.
I am certain I could return to capture even more from this memorable waterfall.
