Lake Matheson is a kettle lake formed by the retreat of the Fox Glacier. Although it’s small—more like a pond—it offers a stunning view of New Zealand’s two largest mountains, Mount Cook and Mount Tasman. In photography circles, it is regarded as one of the world’s ten most photographed lakes, and for good reason.
Visiting this place is always a treat, especially since I lived in and around this small township of 300 people for 15 years. This view never gets old!
