I love this time of year. Here in Southern California, hummingbirds are all over the yard as they start their migration north. My front yard is a buzz of high-pitched squeaks and chirps, especially with males defending territory they have established.
Capturing hummingbirds in flight is a completely different topic; in this case, I was lucky enough to capture this beautiful bird in the middle of grooming. I have captured these speedy little creatures doing some crazy maneuvers, but I would have to say my favorite images have been just watching them enjoy the sun.
