Several years ago, shortly after retirement, my wife and I took a three-week trip to Iceland. We chose late May and early June for our trip because we wanted to see the Icelandic waterfalls in their full glory. Sure, the weather at that time can be rainy and cold, but the water flows strongly.
Our tour of Iceland was a slow, clockwise tour of the entire island. On June 4, we arrived at Goðafoss about midway through our excursion.
The weather was ideal, with some high clouds and patches of blue and some low clouds hugging the mountains in the distance. Crowds were light, as the summer tourist season was just starting to ramp up. We took our time walking around the falls, admiring the roar and sheer quantity of water flowing over them.
Several pictures were taken along our path, but this image struck us the most as showing the vast size of Goðafoss.
