Misty or foggy days are my favorite kind of weather to photograph. They usually show up in early spring where I live, not long after the Lunar New Year. That’s when I start getting ready for potentially great scenes.

I once ran into a foggy day in Xixi’Nan back in 2021 and came away with several shots I was really happy with. So this time, based on weather forecasts and what local residents told me, I planned a three-day trip, hoping to catch the mist again.

On the first dawn after I arrived, the fog did show up—but it was so thick I could barely see anything. I walked carefully toward a small woodland not far from my inn. As I got closer, the trees slowly emerged from the fog, almost like ghosts in the forest. That moment really sparked something for me, so I used multiple exposures to create a slightly eerie scene, trying to capture what I was feeling at the time.
