Gasadalur, a village located above an ocean-side waterfall, is one of the most iconic scenes in the Faroe Islands. In recent years, this location has gained popularity among tourists, largely due to social media. I visited the Faroe Islands in October to avoid the peak tourist season and to see the landscape transform from summer green to autumnal gold.
I planned my trip to Gasadalur for late afternoon, aiming to capture the golden light before the waterfall fell into shade. Fortunately, there were breaks in the clouds passing overhead while I was there. I took numerous photographs as the light shifted with the changing clouds. Additionally, I experimented with longer exposure times to highlight the waterfall’s lines and create a smooth effect on the ocean waves. After reviewing all my exposures, I selected this image as my favorite.
