I’m a landscape photographer based in North Yorkshire, and I spend a lot of time outdoors with my camera, exploring the local countryside and making videos for my YouTube channel. On the day I took this photo, I was out filming a vlog about waterfalls. The sky had been quite dull all afternoon, with grey clouds and soft light perfect for shooting waterfalls, but not great for a dramatic sunset. I had taken all the shots I needed and was just about ready to head home.
As I started packing up my gear, I glanced back one last time, and I couldn’t believe what I saw. Out of nowhere, the clouds began to break and the sky lit up in bright shades of red, orange, and gold. It looked like the sky was on fire. I quickly grabbed my camera again and set it up as quickly as possible, not wanting to miss the moment. The whole landscape suddenly looked stunning, with warm light shining over the trees and water. It was one of those moments where everything just came together perfectly.
I’ve seen a lot of sunsets while out with my camera, but this one really stood out. It was probably one of the best I’ve ever seen in Yorkshire. Moments like this are why I love being out in nature, even when the weather doesn’t seem promising. You never know when something amazing is going to happen. I’m so glad I stayed just a little bit longer to catch it!!
