For some time, I have been deeply passionate about rural landscape photography. I believe this interest stems from my upbringing in Africa, where farms are abundant. After moving to my home in Italy, particularly to the Highlands of Asiago in Northern Italy, this passion has grown even stronger.

I’m drawn to places that evoke a sense of mystery and mood, those with a touch of age, where things are hinted at rather than clearly explained. I appreciate locations that raise questions and leave room for interpretation, and I try to seek out signs of memory and the marks left by people over time on the landscape. At times, my focus is on untouched nature and at other times, it’s on elements of the built environment.

I am especially drawn to dramatic weather conditions, such as cloud inversions and mist, which have had a profound influence on my recent work. One of my favourite subjects is an abandoned shed, an otherwise unattractive structure whose vibrant orange colour stands in striking contrast to the cooler green tones of its surroundings. Capturing it in different lighting and weather conditions has continued to fascinate me, making me a regular visitor to this location.

When photographing, I always take my time, carefully setting up with a tripod and a polarising filter to achieve the best possible result. This photo is among my favourites, taken as the sun was about to dip behind the nearby hills while mist and rolling clouds rose from the valleys below.
