In mid-July 2025, one afternoon, I set out to scout for images in the St-Barthelemy region, located about an hour’s drive east of Montreal. This area features flat, wide-open agricultural fields that grow a variety of vegetables, showcasing a great range of colors, textures, and patterns.
To get closer to the fields, I turned onto Grand St-Jacques, a narrow gravel road used by farmers to access their fields. Surrounded by vibrant lines, colors, and patterns, I was captivated by the striking clouds above the expansive, colorful landscape.
I parked my car on the side of the road and grabbed my camera equipped with a wide-angle lens, as the scene was too expansive for my 16mm lens. I took five overlapping shots to capture the entire vista. By intentionally overexposing each shot by 1.7 stops (ETTR) without blowing out the highlights, I was able to capture the fine tones and details in the clouds.
Once I returned home, I imported the files into Lightroom (LR) to create a panorama. In the software, I set up a sky mask with highlights adjusted to -32 and dehaze set to +20. Finally, I pressed the AUTO button in LR to let the software handle the remaining adjustments.
Looking at the final image, I was very pleased with the results.
