I was excited to join a group of fellow photographers for some astrophotography on Maryland’s Assateague Island. We quickly realized that the clouds weren’t going to cooperate, so we made the most of it and wandered the island for some evening images. The Sinepuxent Bay is on the western side of the island, so we headed there for sunset. Mother Nature answered our prayers and delivered some beautiful, moody light!
I wanted to create a dynamic between the brighter sky area and the lighter-colored foreground bush area, with the eye moving to the white birds in the center of the image and to those magenta highlights in the pooled water at the right front.
