The Douro, the third-longest river in the Iberian Peninsula, once a free and wild river, was tamed with the construction of dams. Between them, the waters are now calm, stirred only by the wind or by the passage of an occasional boat that causes a momentary swell.
The entire riverside landscape evokes calm and introspection. How can we capture so much placidity in the waters of the lakes formed between the dams? By using long exposure times in environments that should be as static as possible. The use of a very small lens aperture allowed all planes to be in focus.
