I was standing on the side of the road, looking at the amazing view, when someone standing next to me asked if you could do a panoramic without a tripod. I said, “I don’t know—let’s see.” I took my camera off the tripod, selected settings I felt comfortable with for a handheld shot, shifted my camera to portrait position, and started shooting frames. To capture the entire scene I wanted to include, I ended up shooting 10 frames. I went back and did it again a second time, just to make sure I got good coverage and overlap on all my edges.
When I got it into the computer, I was amazed at how easily everything lined up and how spectacular the image turned out. The brewing storm is evident in the clouds.
