On a photography trip to the Southwest U.S. in early 2025, I spent a couple of nights at Monument Valley, which straddles the Arizona-Utah border and is managed by the Navajo Nation.
While there, a storm passed through, leaving a dusting of snow in the morning and epic cloud formations in the afternoon. I took advantage of the conditions to do the 17-mile scenic drive that afternoon.
The backdrop of the clouds and blue skies against the famous buttes was spectacular. This scene of the West Mitten Butte in late afternoon against a dramatic sky is one of my favorite captures of that special day.
