Taken almost a year ago on our very last evening of the Tour du Mont Blanc, an 11-day circumnavigation of the Mont Blanc Massif. It had snowed on our way up to the refuge at La Flégère – one of the oldest huts in the Alps.
Waiting for our final meal of the tour, the clouds began to clear across the valley, though not quite enough for us to see the summit of Mont Blanc. We did get to see Les Drus and Aguille Vert. The view reminded me strongly of Bierstadt’s work.
