Sinella Valley Waterfall, Trentino Alto Adige, Italy

Sinella valley waterfall, trentino alto adige, italy

The Sinella Valley waterfalls are small waterfalls located on the trail leading to the Brenta Dolomites. Easily accessible with a simple trek, they offer a beautiful view, especially in early spring when the snow melts. The photograph was taken with the small Fujifilm Xe2, ideal for mountain hikes thanks to its compact size.

Winter at Stairs Falls, Franconia Notch State Park, Lincoln, New Hampshire, USA

Winter at stairs falls, franconia notch state park, lincoln, new hampshire, usa

Franconia Notch State Park is a public recreation area and natural preserve that spans eight miles (13 km) through Franconia Notch. In New England, a ‘notch’ is simply another name for a mountain pass, in this case through the White Mountains of northern New Hampshire. The Falling Waters Trail is a popular trail leading to […]

Tim’s Bridge, Wellfleet, Barnstable County, MA, USA

Tim's bridge, wellfleet, barnstable county, ma, usa

An early morning walk across Tim’s Bridge in Wellfleet is a classic Cape Cod experience. This photo was taken when the fog was still lingering, and the flora had an incredibly fine and delicate look. Even with all the trappings of modernity, the Cape retains its elemental quality as soon as you venture off the […]

Sanwapta Falls After Fresh Snow, Icefields Parkway, Alberta, Canada

Sanwapta falls after fresh snow, icefields parkway, alberta, canada

In the fall of 2021, we visited the Banff and Jasper area of Alberta, Canada. The 290 km road between Banff and Jasper may be one of the most scenic drives in North America. We had visited this area before, once when the kids were teenagers, and again a couple of years prior to this […]

Mill Pond in Winter, Oak Creek, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA

Mill pond in winter, oak creek, milwaukee county, wisconsin, usa

Located in a local park, the calm, placid Mill Pond is beautiful at any time of year, but it becomes particularly stunning in winter when the water flowing over the dam freezes into ice. The waterfall flows heavily after spring and summer rains, but slows down in the winter, becoming a gentle flow of water […]

Water Curtain, Skogafoss, Iceland

Water curtain, skogafoss, iceland

I was not the first photographer to capture Skógafoss waterfall in Iceland, nor will I be the last. It is a must-see location along the southern section of the ring road, near Skógafoss village. This 60-meter-high and 25-meter-wide ‘water curtain’ is very beautiful and world-famous. I have seen it under several weather conditions. This particular […]

Stirling Falls, Milford Sound, New Zealand

Stirling falls, milford sound, new zealand

This picture was taken from the back of a boat, with spray from the falls soaking me thoroughly. I was wiping my lens pretty much constantly. A fast shutter speed was used to capture the motion of the boat, and the ISO was increased slightly, as it was late afternoon. I aimed to capture the […]

Christine Falls, Mount Rainier National Park, Washington State, USA

Christine falls, mount rainier national park, washington state, usa

One of the things I enjoy most about living in the Pacific Northwest is the easy access to several magnificent national parks, including Olympic National Park, Crater Lake National Park, North Cascades National Park, and Mount Rainier National Park. I have visited and photographed each of these parks, and I am continually amazed by the […]

Grottes de Pendens, Servion, Switzerland

Grottes de pendens, servion, switzerland

In a quiet forest near my home in Switzerland, there is a small, unremarkable waterfall — one that would be easy to overlook. It doesn’t roar or crash like the grand ones found elsewhere. Instead, it whispers. Yet in its quiet, it holds something that has always spoken to me. I’ve always been attracted to […]

Buachaille Etive Mor Waterfall, Glen Coe, Scotland

Buachaille etive mor waterfall, glen coe, scotland

This photo was taken over ten years ago, in 2015, when this photo spot was less well known. The friend I was travelling with suggested we might try to find it. The track from the roadside to where the car had been parked was visible, though not the well-trodden bog that it has sadly become. […]
