Daytime at Gullfoss, Reykholt, Iceland

Daytime at gullfoss, reykholt, iceland

During a self-guided circumnavigation by car around Iceland, we stopped at a number of obligatory waterfalls and were never disappointed, although we occasionally got very wet. This is Gullfoss, one of our favourites. I converted to monochrome because the image called out to me, “Colours not needed!”.

Morning at Sol Duc Falls, Olympic National Park, Washington State, USA

Morning at sol duc falls, olympic national park, washington state, usa

Living in the Pacific Northwest, this assignment – “Waterfalls” – is right in my sweet spot. The Cascades Range of mountains is aptly named, as heavy snows, glaciers, and temperate rainforest conditions create an abundance of water flowing in its journey to the Pacific Ocean. Olympic National Park, in the farthest northwest region of the […]

Angel Falls is a gentle cascade on Sevenmile Creek, with a drop of around 3–5 feet, nestled right behind St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, near Ida Street in Lansing, KS. Nelson Falls, Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, Tasmania

Nelson falls, franklin gordon wild rivers national park, tasmania

Tasmania is a landscape photographer’s paradise. It presents so many opportunities, from soaring mountain vistas with snow-capped peaks in the winter, stunning mountain lakes with mirror-like reflections, wild rivers coursing through massive stands of pristine temperate rainforests, historic architecture built by early convict labourers and even, at the right time, incredible images of the Aurora […]

Eastern Hardwoods Waterfall, New River Gorge National Park, USA

Eastern hardwoods waterfall, new river gorge national park, usa

Having grown up and lived all my life in the western U.S., being amongst the eastern hardwoods in fall is an amazing sight. West Virginia is an amazingly beautiful state and is ripe with photo opportunities. For this image, I wanted to get down at water level, looking back at the waterfall and have the […]

The Buchaille Etive Mor is a Mountain at the head of Glen Etive in Glencoe in the highlands of Scotland. Running down from the mountain and through the valley is the River Etive, and as it flows down over rocks and boulders during the harsh winter months, the waters become frozen. I captured this image […]

Deep Inside The Mountain, Gljufrabui, 249, 861, South Iceland

Deep inside the mountain, gljufrabui, 249, 861, south iceland

What an incredible experience it was to photograph Gljufrabui Falls, which is hidden inside a cave. The weather outside was cool in September, and while I was dressed for the exterior conditions, the cave itself was icy cold. I had to carefully navigate the slippery rocks, which were covered in algae, making it challenging to […]

The Light at Laughing Falls, Yoho National Park, BC, Canada

The light at laughing falls, yoho national park, bc, canada

I visited Yoho National Park in British Columbia on the last day of a father-son trip to the Canadian Rockies. The itinerary for each day was largely the same: wake up, pack a day bag, hike, take in the beautiful mountain scenery, return to the hotel, eat a delicious dinner, sleep, and repeat. It was […]

Where Leaves Rest, Corno Alle Scale Regional Park, Italy

Where leaves rest, corno alle scale regional park, italy

A golden leaf gently resting on the rock — fragile, yet a witness to the slow passage of time, just like the water carving its way through stone. In this forest corner, autumn speaks in whispers of wet leaves and the melodies of flowing water. No words are needed, only the silence that lingers within […]
