I took this photograph in Hirtshals on April 5th, when Storm Dave reached the Danish northwest coast. I went there with the intention of studying how the sea would move at the harbour entrance under strong wind and shifting conditions.
What I found interesting was how the waves didn’t come from a single direction. They met at slight angles, crossing into each other and breaking unevenly. This created a surface that was constantly changing, where the shape of the waves never settled into a clear pattern.
I worked on isolating that movement. By removing the shoreline and any fixed elements, I focused only on the interaction between the waves. The light in the spray would briefly reveal structure before it disappeared again, which made timing important.
