A small marina is located at the foot of Sonnino Castle in Quercianella, Livorno.
I had been wanting to descend from the Mediterranean scrub to this marina for a long time. There is no free access; the marina is part of the castle and is private, until my friend Andrea Lorenzetti convinced me to go, even defying some regulatory checks.
A cavity created by strong storms in the main pier allowed me to capture this image, creating a theatre of light where the setting sun takes centre stage.
The luminous disk reflects on the water like a golden blade cutting across the scene, creating a perfect balance between deep shadows and warm glows.
The rocks, sculpted by time and the sea, frame the almost motionless body of water, rendered silky by the long exposure, conveying a profound sense of tranquillity.
This photograph does not just show a place; it invites you to enter it in silence, letting the light and the lights tell the story of this wild coast.
