On a misty Halloween morning, I went for a walk to capture the autumnal colors. As I was walking past a carpeted forest floor, I noticed the three beech trees that had created the red carpet. What drew me to take a picture of the stumps was how straight they stood next to each other. They almost seemed to pierce the thick morning fog.
I positioned the trees on the left of the frame to give negative space and balance out the heavy-looking left half of the frame.
