Spire Point To Glacier Peak, North Cascades, Washington State, USA

I fly as often as I can with my pilot friend Wayne up around the North Cascades. We leave around dusk for good light and fly different loops around the peaks depending on wind and weather.

I sit in the back of the plane and shoot both sides, working through the glass and watching shutter speeds while using continuous focus. On this flight, we had great light and unusually low wind, which allowed us to get close. I was able to capture a series of images here, but this view of the ridge leading to Glacier Peak is one of my favorites. The strong line of the illuminated ridge drawing the eye toward Glacier Peak is exactly the kind of perspective that keeps me coming back to aerial photography in the North Cascades.
