Villa Scarena, Italy

This shot was taken while staying in Villa Saraceno, a Landmark Trust property near Padua, in early January. The villa is a Palladian villa, which defines how the external plastering was done. The villa was very cold and large inside.

This image is one of many taken on the grounds of the villa. There were many lines to follow, and the gentle morning light was just right to set off the subject. The drive and shadows, as well as the clouds, all conspired to point at the doorway to the villa. We had artists in our group, and they also found the subject pleasing.
