6:30 a.m. I am positioned on the breakwater to photograph the Raoulic lighthouse. Temperatures are quite chilly for the season. I wait for night to give way to the “blue hour.” At this early hour, the breakwater is deserted; only the engines of a few fishing boats heading out to sea break the silence.

At the far end of the breakwater, the Raoulic lighthouse, located at the mouth of the Goyen River, stands proudly on the structure known as the “Môle du Raoulic.” The breakwater is a 215-meter-long jetty marking the entrance to the port of Audierne. The lighthouse, which entered service in 1856, is a cylindrical granite tower standing 9.20 meters tall.

Audierne Bay awakens in a serene shade of azure blue.

Sky and sea merge into one. The long exposure blurs the passing ship, leaving only its wake behind. The lighthouse alone stands in contrast to this world of blue. Time seems to pause for a few fleeting minutes.

The leading lines of the jetty draw the eye toward the lighthouse, itself aligned with the deep azure of the horizon.
