After two days of constant wind, a calm morning descended on Ontario’s gem of a provincial park, Killarney—a morning with no wildfire smoke in the atmosphere. I was up and out of my tent 40 minutes before sunrise, and the whole world was peaceful, except for the call of a lone Hermit Thrush. Sheer zen.
I began “working the scene,” moving along the shoreline, watching the sky as the high cirrus clouds began developing more and more character.
I photographed in the way I love most: slowly, purposefully, on a tripod, and using Tripod High Res. Carefully checking to ensure highlights were preserved, I was able to add EV ⅔ to the exposure.
The photograph captures but a moment of the zen of spending time in nature, uninterrupted by life’s demands.
