This is from a high spot on the flanks of Kamiak Butte in eastern Washington State’s Palouse region. I’d scouted this location in years past, but this was the first time photographing from here.
It was another good year for canola, and this location had a good-sized field in the foreground. The sun was just setting, casting warm light over the entire scene.
My small group and I had this place to ourselves for a quiet and peaceful end to the day, and a great memory of why I keep returning to the Palouse.
