Tiberina Island is considered the birthplace of Rome; a crucial ford across the Tiber River and a site that has symbolized health and healing since ancient times, first with the Temple of Aesculapius and later with the Fatebenefratelli Hospital, a place held dear by Romans.
I had long wanted to take this photo from the bridge overlooking the island, capturing the two branches into which the Tiber splits at this point. The pink light of dawn made this shot special.
