We spent the early morning hours near the Sunrise Rim Trailhead taking pictures of the Milky Way over Mount Rainier (14,409 ft, 4,392 m). As the night turned to morning, the transition from night to day had captured our attention, and we were too enamored to leave. The changing light from shadow to sunshine and the sunlight moving down from the mountain peak to the valley below was mesmerizing. So we stayed and watched. As the sun lit up Mount Rainier, low clouds had moved up the White River Valley from the east. The air was still, the birds were singing, and I took this photo to forever capture this moment.
