I was hiking around the perimeter of Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, looking for unique perspectives in a very popular and heavily photographed area. I noticed the unique framing offered by the log, and I noticed something else: the literal visualization of light beyond the darkness of heavy forest cover. I accentuated that contrast in post-processing.
