This photo was taken on a cold and foggy morning at the end of November 2025. I had recently become interested in macro photography and had spent the morning photographing mushrooms in the forest near my home in western Oregon.
I was walking home along a trail I have walked thousands of times when those yellow leaves caught my eye. They stood out sharply against the foggy background, as if to announce the end of autumn.
I typically shoot landscapes with my Sony a1 camera, and on this day I was carrying my OM1 Mark II with a 60mm macro lens. But, as they say, the best camera is the one you have with you.
