Winter in Hokkaido, Teshikaga, Hokkaido, Japan

I went to Hokkaido in January 2026 mainly to do minimalist photography in snow-covered landscapes. However, just a few minutes after leaving the hotel on a very cold morning, we passed a small wood next to warm springs. The combination of steam in the air and the cold temperatures, almost -20 degrees Celsius, created the perfect conditions to make this photo of trees at the edge of the woods, covered in hoar frost. The steam from the warm springs and the dense, dark character of the woods helped give a sense of three-dimensionality to the photo.
