This was taken while on a tour of Morocco. We had left the Sahara Desert earlier in the day, and we were now heading to our next stop, a kasbah in the High Atlas. About three weeks prior, a massive earthquake had hit Morocco, with the epicentre in the High Atlas. After much fact-gathering, we went ahead with our trip, and were so glad that we did.

Morocco is such a geographically diverse country, and there is much to photograph. Our driver/guide was from this area and was so proud to show us the natural beauty he grew up in. Fortunately, the area we visited had not been damaged by the quake, but our guide had suffered a personal loss, as his brother-in-law had been killed while working in the village where the quake hit.

We had not expected to see so much natural beauty in this vibrant and fascinating country.
