The Adirondack Mountains are my spiritual home, a place I return to whenever I can. Each July 4, my big, extended family gathers here to celebrate. That evening, our RV was parked at a local campground overlooking this lake. As the air cooled, fog began to lift from the warmer water, creating a quiet inversion that rolled across the surface.

I noticed the fog while walking our dog, handed her off to my wife, grabbed my camera, and started photographing. I worked my way to this cove at the end of the lake, where the fog settled against the distant mountains and drifted through a low-lying area to the right.

I framed the trees and boulder on the left to anchor the image and draw the eye inward, adding mid-distance interest and a subtle reflection. The flexibility of the GFX100RF allowed me to refine the composition through cropping while preserving the resolution needed for large prints.
